Mr. Johnny CHAN is a senior lawyer providing bespoke legal services to both international and local clients on various areas including capital market, regulatory disciplinary actions (including investigations and inspections carried out by regulatory bodies such as SFC, London Metal Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, HK Insurance Authority, The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and the Institution of Certified Public Accountants, etc.), complicated commercial disputes, AML and compliance related legal issues (including cybersecurity and internal control) and employment disputes.

Mr. Johnny CHAN is a very senior lawyer with 20 years of experience and is well known in the legal industry. Johnny is consistently ranked as a top-tier lawyer in the major legal guides and has been recognized in the GC Power List and nominated by the Asian Legal Business as a finalist of the Investment Banking In-House Team of the Year.

Before establishing CKW, Mr. Johnny CHAN was the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Head of Legal and Compliance Department, Group Company Secretary of China Merchants Securities International Co., Ltd., managing a team of over 20 legal and compliance specialists and responsible for managing the global legal and compliance function of the group (comprising of subsidiaries/ branches in London, Seoul, Singapore and Shenzhen). Before that, Mr. Johnny CHAN was the Senior Legal Counsel of ABN AMRO N.V. and Legal Counsel of CITIC Securities International Co., Ltd. (now CITIC CLSA).

Mr. Johnny CHAN is a regular invited speaker and panelist at international legal and financial conferences across the region including the Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Summit 2019 on the topic “Preparing for Regulatory Investigation”; 2nd Belt and Road Conference 2018 organised by the Law Society of Hong Kong（香港律師會第二屆一帶一路論壇）on the topic “Fundamentals of Smart Contracts”; the 15th Annual Asian Legal Business Hong Kong In-House Legal Summit 2018 on the topic “Legal Segmentation: Achieving More with Less”; Asialaw Dispute Resolutions Summit 2017 on the topic “Conducting Regulatory Investigations in the Region”; and Asialaw Asia-Pacific In-house Counsel Summit 2017 on “Monitoring Technology, Cybercrime and Data Privacy Issues in the Region”.

Mr. Johnny CHAN serves as an Honorary Legal Advisor to various professional bodies and NGOs (including the Institute of Compliance Officers and Equal Justice, etc.) and he is also a former member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference（中国人民政治协商会议）of Jiangmen (Jiang Hai district).
